Wow, you talk a about a lot of different web hosting companies to choose from, there are simply a ton of them to choose from. Businesses are starting left and right on the Internet and lets face it we all want to have a good web hosting provider so that our visitors will be able to view our website. In order to have a good web hosting provider it is important that you take these points into consideration.

    Free Hosting Is Not Good

First and foremost, I want to mention that just because something is free doesn’t me you take advantage of it. What do I mean? Well, there are ton of free web hosting services out there that will allow you to host your site with them. However, I do want to mention that you get what you pay for when you use a free host. There is barely any space (usually about 25 MB), little customer support, if any, and they are usually plastered with advertisements.

Not to mention a free hosting service will usually have some downtime and not come with any support for MySQL, email accounts, or any other scripting support. I see a lot of beginner businesses fall into this trap of hosting their domain with a free hosting company. This is really bad news because you do not actually own your site. This “free” hosting company could decide to shut down you website for any reason. They do not have to explain why they have shut your site down or anything. It could be for the simple fact that they do not want to host your site with them.

It Is All About Customer Service

Another kick in the pants that I often find novice webmasters or new business owners falling for is signing up with a company that doesn’t really offer any customer service. Just recently I was working with a client and there was no telephone number to reach the hosting provider at. I had to fill out a support ticket and wait 15-20 min for a guy named “Lemon” to respond to my questions. It took me 2 hours to switch over my DNS. Talk about a long day!

    Support Your Scripts

The third and final mistake people make is they will sign up with hosting services that do not support anything they need. For example, they do not support Wordpress or some eCommerce features. Always do make sure that you check with them to make sure they meet your needs.
