WiMAX devices can have speeds up to 7 MBps or more which will make any laptop comparable to the speeds found in an office setting. The speed is available because of the WiFi connection and the device that connects the USB port via a WiMAX or a EV-DO connection. A small amount of companies carry the WiMAX device but by the ed of the year they should be available everywhere. These devices can connect to your office, making you a part of the a mobile connection or it can connect in the office, replacing the Ethernet cable or connection you use there.

The ISPs today can service all your wireless need for both in your office and at home. Plus there are devices for your mobile connections as well. Dial up can run at 56kbps but the introduction of wireless can make your connection run at 384kbps or up to 2.0Mbps without a wire.

Running at speeds this fast allows small devices such as cell phones and laptops to have the power always wanted in mobile computing. The speed of wireless will allow you to connect and work as though you were in your office or home. Access to areas where you can connect is no longer an issue.

The use of high speed wireless is available for laptops, cell phones an other hand held mobile devices at speeds that used to be reserved for DSL and cable.

To get wireless Internet access connection requires different equipment than is used in an office connection such as an Ethernet cable and a NIC card. On a laptop today most of have already installed by the manufacturer a wireless device for you to use. After which you will need to find an area that supports wireless by them having a wireless router open for your use.

WISPs, or otherwise known Wireless Internet Service Providers operate a series of towers that transmit their Internet signals much as they do their cell phone operations. Local cable companies are now looking into providing access too since they already have towers all over as well.

Using a national company can give you the coverage that you need when traveling all over a state, country or the globe.
